A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of spreading untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
